Scale DSM Minority Business Accelerator Receives Sponsorship From Wells Fargo, Kicks Off Inaugural Cohort
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (June 14, 2022) — Wells Fargo has committed to a three-year presenting sponsorship to support the Scale DSM Minority Business Accelerator Powered by Interise. This partnership will allow for the Scale DSM program to continue through 2025 and will give several minority-owned local businesses an opportunity to develop the knowledge needed to build a successful business moving forward by participating in the 2022 cohort and future cohorts.
The accelerator aims to help businesses gain access to knowledge, management know-how and networks needed to increase revenue, create jobs and positively impact the community. Participants will complete Interise’s award-winning and internationally recognized StreetWise ‘MBA,’ (minority business accelerator) which is centered around practical, case-based peer learning for minority-led businesses. The program is tuition free and the first cohort will run from June through December 2022.
“The Scale DSM program is a perfect fit for Wells Fargo’s commitment to supporting inclusive business practices across the region,” said Laura Howe, Regional Banking Director at Wells Fargo. “Successful small businesses add vibrancy and vitality to the region, and we are excited to be a part of this new educational program to help create and continue to grow an inclusive and successful small business community in Greater Des Moines.”
The Greater Des Moines Partnership hosted a kickoff event for the inaugural Scale DSM Minority Accelerator Program on Tuesday, June 14. Twelve small business owners are participating in the first Scale DSM cohort, coming from diverse backgrounds and representing a wide range of expertise including food service, logistics, media, commercial real estate, consulting, cosmetics, automotive service and more.
“The Partnership is excited to serve a diverse array of small businesses through the Scale DSM program, and we can’t wait to start engaging with the small business community members who are participating in the first cohort,” said Juan Pablo Sanchez, Director of Inclusive Business Strategies at The Partnership. “The Scale DSM program has a unique, enriching curriculum that provides participating small business owners with the knowledge they need to bring their businesses to the next level.”
