Partnership, Pro Iowa to Host Multicultural Reception on July 7

June 24, 2021

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Thursday, June 24, 2021) — The Greater Des Moines Partnership is partnering with Pro Iowa to host the first Multicultural Reception in nearly 17 months on Wednesday, July 7. The event will take place at the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater and in conjunction with a Des Moines Menace Game at Valley Stadium. Multicultural Receptions provide opportunities for those in the Greater Des Moines (DSM) community to develop new relationships with others who are passionate about building an inclusive community for the region.

“In our individual journey of learning about diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and developing cultural competency, one of the most important avenues for growth is by making meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds,” said Sanjita Pradhan, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “This event is designed to do just that by bringing people together to network and have important conversations.”

Attendees at the July 7 event will have the opportunity to learn more about efforts to build the new Pro Iowa Soccer Stadium and Global Plaza and celebrate the global nature of soccer in bringing together people from all nationalities and backgrounds to experience the sport. The reception will take place from 5 – 6:30 p.m., and the game begins at 7 p.m. for anyone who would like to attend.

“Soccer is a common language for people across different ethnicities,” said Charley Campbell, Iowa Soccer Development Foundation secretary. “We encourage people to attend the reception, experience this global game and learn more about plans to expand the sport’s presence in Greater Des Moines.”
