Luminarium Set to Return to Cowles Commons This Fall

DES MOINES, IA — Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA) is excited to announce the return of the popular light and air sculpture known as a Luminarium. After wowing visitors in Sept. 2016 with Luminarium Arboria, an entirely new Luminarium known as Albesila, will animate Cowles Commons from Sept. 28 – Oct. 7, 2018. Tickets to Luminarium Albesila will be available starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018 at DMPA.org, the Civic Center Ticket Office, or by phone at (515) 246-2300. Admission: $5 day-of standby admission, $15 advance reserved time. (A limited number of reserved tickets
will be available) Tickets will go on-sale to the public on August 22, 2018.

This inflatable walk-in monument from the United Kingdom is half the size of a football field and offers a
phenomenon of light, color and sound. Evoking a sense of wonder for people of all ages, the Luminarium is a
dazzling maze of winding paths and cavernous domes where visitors are invited to wander, lie down, or sit
and enjoy the ambience.

Volunteers Needed:

DMPA is building a dynamic team of volunteer docents to guide guests as they experience the “Albesila”
Luminarium. This opportunity is ideal for those interested in art, architecture, event management, theater,
