DSM USA is the #5 Best Place for Business and Careers

DSM USA Ranking Best Place for Business and Careers

October 27, 2017

GREATER DES MOINES, IOWA (Oct. 27, 2017) – Greater Des Moines (DSM) is the #5 Best Place for Business and Careers, according to Forbes. The annual ranking compares the business climates of the 200 largest metro areas by population in the U.S. Metro areas are rated on 14 metrics related to job growth, costs of doing business and living, income growth, quality of life and the education of the labor force. Des Moines moved up one spot on this year’s list.

Part of Des Moines’ strength in placing in the top five stems from a cost of doing business that is 15 percent below the national average.

“Des Moines has experienced tremendous momentum in recent years in terms of gross domestic product growth, employment growth and population growth that outpaces other Midwest metros,” said Jay Byers, CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “This ranking reiterates the strength of the region and further puts us on the national map as a best-in-class region.”

The Forbes ranking is complemented by other recent accolades received by the region, including #9 Best City for Quality of Life by NerdWallet, #1 Minor League Sports Market by SportsBusiness Journal and #1 Best Place for Millennials to Live in the Midwest by Growella.
