Des Moines Performing Arts Announces Three Community Events on Cowles Commons
DES MOINES, IA — Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA) is excited to announce a variety of complimentary community events animating Cowles Commons throughout the summer and fall. The events are part of a larger initiative by DMPA to program the recently renovated Cowles Commons and engage the community. The newly announced events include:
Food Truck Tuesdays
Cowles Commons
Every Tuesday, June 19 through September 25
11 AM to 1:30 PM
Wellness Wednesdays Yoga
Wednesday, June 27 through September 26 (except July 4)
Noon to 1 PM
Enjoy free yoga on the Commons lead by professional instructors. All levels and abilities welcome. In case of inclement weather, the session will move indoors if possible.
Fam Jam at Cowles Commons
July 22, August 19, September 16
1 to 5 PM
Sunday "Family Jamboree" events. Free and open to the public, including:
Children's Band on Stage
- July 22 – Justin Roberts & The Not Ready for Naptime Players
- August 19 – Tim Kubart & The Space Cadets
- September 16 – The Okee Dokee Brothers
Bounce houses, arts making and activity stations with community partners, food trucks, and the Lauridsen Fountain.
“The vision for Cowles Commons is for it to serve as a town square for our community,” said Laura Sweet, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Des Moines Performing Arts. “We hope that these free events provide opportunities for neighbors to come together and enjoy the space.”
