What to Expect at the 2023 Future World of Work Summit

Who is going to do the work in the age of fewer workers?

How can we leverage artificial intelligence to balance efficiency and responsibility?

What are some best practices in work-based learning?

These are just some of the questions that will be discussed during the second annual Future World of Work Summit taking place Thursday, Oct. 5 at the UnityPoint Health Des Moines Conference & Learning Center at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). The 2023 Summit will include three keynote presenters, including Josh Wright, Executive Vice President of the Community Division at Lightcast, and Christopher Porter and Chris Snider of Drake University. Summit attendees will leave the event with custom regional recommendations of how to tackle workforce gaps, leverage technology and enhance business and education partnerships.

About the Summit

During the Summit, Innovation Award winners will be recognized for championing innovative efforts in talent attraction and retention in DSM. Three winners will be named in the following two categories: Innovation in Talent Pipeline Award and Innovation in Talent Retention Award.

This one-day event will begin at 9 a.m. with a welcome from David Stark, Interim Market President at UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, and Tiffany Tauscheck, President & CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Keynotes, awards, breakout sessions highlighting key industries and panelists discussing the future of higher ed and best practices in work-based learning will follow, with the event ending at 4 p.m.

Lexi Shafer

Lexi Shafer serves as the Director of Workforce on the Talent Development team at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. In her role, Lexi leads the talent pipeline and retention efforts here in the Greater Des Moines region. Prior to coming to The Partnership, Lexi was a business educator and work-based learning coordinator for 12 years, as well as sat on the Iowa Work-Based Learning Coordinators Board for three years. Lexi has also held positions in finance and communications. Lexi received her Master’s in Business Administration, Bachelor’s in Finance and Bachelor’s in Business Education from Northwest Missouri State University.
