Strengthening Our Community Through Art

Gallery Renovations

November 21, 2024

The Des Moines Art Center recently renovated the world class A.H. Blank and Kyle and Sharon Krause Galleries. These renovations caused reflections on the significance that the Art Center has on our community by serving as a cultural hub, attracting tourism and growth and catalyzing innovation.

Cultural Hub

The Des Moines Art Center is a cultural hub that brings people together and fosters connections with shared experiences. The Art Center is an institution that provides a collective identity for our community. Their programs cater to various age groups, backgrounds and interests and this inclusivity helps bridge social divides and creates opportunities for meaningful interactions among the community.

Tourism and Growth

The Des Moines Art Center is a powerful magnet, drawing both residents and visitors, both of which bring fresh energy and perspectives to our community. The Art Center exhibitions, programs and community engagement enhances the vibrancy of the overall quality of life in our community, making it more appealing to potential residents and businesses.

Catalyzing Innovation

The Des Moines Art Center serves as an incubator for innovation, which can have far-reaching effects on the economic health of our regional economy. For example, their educational programs promote critical thinking and creativity, two important skillsets for problem solving and innovation, the necessary elements to develop meaningful relationships and economic resiliency.

The Des Moines Art Center is a vital asset as it contributes to our social, cultural and economic fabric of our community by fostering connections, attracting visitors and tomorrow’s residents and creating an environment that stimulates our ability to broaden our creativity and innovation. Generous donors in the community make this all possible. Their investment in the Art Center is an investment in our community. I encourage you to visit and find ways to support this world-class institution.
