Promoting Economic Growth Policies + Initiatives with the Inaugural Iowa Chamber Alliance Fly-In Event

Congressional Fly-In

The Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Policy Team joined chambers of commerce from across Iowa for the inaugural Iowa Chamber Alliance Washington, D.C. fly-in. The Partnership is one of 14 chambers that make up the Iowa Chamber Alliance (ICA), a non-partisan coalition that represents the leading Chambers of Commerce and economic development organizations throughout Iowa that focus on promoting economic growth policies and initiatives.

About the Iowa Chamber Alliance Event

During the three-day event, The Partnership had the privilege of meeting with all six of Iowa’s Congressional Offices. This provided an opportunity to advocate for The Partnership’s 2023 Federal Policy Agenda, which includes the strategic advancement of the Des Moines International Airport terminal project and the Iowa Confluence (ICON) Water Trails.

Additionally, our participation in the event involved engaging in additional programming, offering advocacy opportunities for other policy priorities such as the farm bill, small business, child care, immigration and infrastructure.

We concluded the fly-in with the "Taste of Iowa" Congressional Reception, a co-hosted event by ICA and the State Society of Iowa, generously sponsored by ACLI, PORTER, University of Iowa, ADM and the Iowa Business Council. The reception featured a selection of food and beverages representing the different flavors of Iowa. At our table, we proudly offered Chocolaterie Stam's dark chocolate bars.

Looking ahead, The Partnership remains committed to collaborating with ICA Members and advancing federal and state policy priorities in preparation for 2024.
