Exploration to Panama

July 1, 2019

Did you know that between 13,000 and 14,000 ships use the Panama Canal every year? Or that Panama was the first Latin American country to adopt U.S. currency? Through the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Cultural Exploration Trip to Panama, you can discover even more about the country that links Central and South America.

The November 2019 trip will feature visits to the country’s notable landmarks, including the Panama Canal which transformed global trade, as the group makes their way from Panama City to Gamboa to Playa Blanca and back to Panama City. The 7-day, 6-night trip aims to connect Greater Des Moines (DSM) business people to global experiences and opportunities to create lifelong memories for attendees.

International trade is an important part of strengthening the DSM USA economy. Exploring other cultures, developing international relationships and understanding global markets is the first step. Panama plays a critical role in trade, serving as the crossroads between two oceans and two continents.

If you’re a businessperson in DSM, consider joining The Partnership for the 2019 trip to Panama. Traveling out of the country can force you to learn about yourself in all kinds of ways. It can show you people and experiences entirely different from what you see at home or even traveling within the U.S. The challenges you face in immersing yourself in a new culture provide education you can’t get by doing anything else. These connections can be valuable both personally and professionally.
