Grimes Brings Back Free Concert Series
The City of Grimes is bringing back its outdoor, free concert series this fall. The Rock Around the Clock Concert Series will take place at Heritage Park in Grimes starting Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024. It runs weekly from 5:30 – 8 p.m. until Thursday, Sept. 29, 2024.
The City debuted the Rock Around the Clock in 2023 and is looking to increase the number of community events after seeing how well attended the concert series was in Grimes. New events added this year will return in 2024. The Movie at Heritage (Kung Fu Panda 4 shows on Thursday, Aug. 8) and Truck or Treat events are both highly anticipated along with Rock Around the Clock.
The City is partnering with its local food pantry, the Grimes Storehouse, to help families in need. To gain admission, concertgoers are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation or a monetary donation for admission. Last year the City collected almost 500 lbs. in canned goods and hopes to set a new record this year. The Grimes Storehouse keeps an updated list of needed items for donations on their website at grimesstorehouse.com/food-donations.
Guests are also welcome to bring their own chairs, blankets, food and drinks. The bands are all local artists, and the City’s goal was to have a good variety of music during the series. Many of the artists frequently play at other popular events across Greater Des Moines (DSM). See the full list below.
