FemCity Des Moines and the Beyond Business Conference Back in DSM

Are you looking for a place to connect, collaborat and collectively succeed all in a safe space? FemCity Des Moines and the Beyond Business Conference does just that and is back for its second year on Thursday, Sept. 14 at The Monroe in West Des Moines.

What is FemCity Des Moines?

FemCity is SBA Women-Owned Small Business Certified and Certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. Throughout the country there are multiple local communities including FemCity Des Moines that provides local programming to women of Des Moines, Iowa. The goal of FemCity is to elevate and celebrate women's achievements, while providing them with the tools, resources and connections they need to excel in their chosen paths. You do not need to be a business owner to be a part of FemCity. Every woman has a unique story and resources to share.

2023 Beyond Business Conference

In 2020, FemCity president Erin Huiatt, like many, heard stories and struggles of women who were struggling in their business and personal lives. Through coffee dates and conversations, she realized that there were many who had stories and insights to share. Something that the entire community could take away and implement in their own lives. She wanted to create a platform where these stories and insights could be shared and a community of women in business could attend to learn.

That was when the Beyond Business Conference was created.

The Beyond Business Conference is a day of personal and professional growth. The conference provides a platform for women and non-gender conforming people to share their knowledge and business with others. The day is full of community uplifting each other and opportunities to connect with others whether you own a business or support all the remarkable things others are doing.

Some fun things attendees can look forward to include:

• Keynote speaker Annie Brees Co-Founder of Balance365 and Raise the Bar Initiative.
• Swag bags, lunch catered by Dinner Delights, coffee from The Slow Down Coffee Co. and snacks throughout the day.
• Special hype session with Your Sasstastic Life.
• Headshots for a cause with Julia Mae Photography benefiting Give Grace Give Hope, Inc.
• An evening social sponsored by Scout & Cellar where attendees can create their own bouquet of flowers with The Wildflower Factory.

In addition to the above, attend breakout sessions with speakers including Celeste Rose, Dawn Hafner, Beth Montpas, Lisa Even, Liz Cobb, Whitney Warne, Courtney Buhrow, Hannah Wilson, Nora Crosthwaite and Jane Nady. You will hear talks on relationship vs. transactional businesses and branding, but also topics on pelvic floor health and managing your mindset. Business owners, community members, women, moms, wives and friends … at FemCity, all are welcome.
