Episode 17: Gain Compliance’s Startup Story
Gain Compliance is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider focused on the insurance industry. CEO Burch LaPrade founded Gain Compliance, his fourth startup, in 2016 in Greater Des Moines (DSM). LaPrade recently sat down with Greater Des Moines Partnership Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives Mike Colwell to share all the latest happening at his startup.
Why Des Moines for Starting Up?
LaPrade shares the reason insurance was of interest for the startup is proximity: Des Moines is an insurance city. He says it was a great location to get inherent, domain knowledge. It’s one thing to understand the problem and it’s another to have 20 customers agree you’re an expert. That is the hardest — being seen as an authority. The compliance challenges of reporting are extremely difficult in the insurtech industry. The requirements are demanding and now that is 100% the expertise they’re about to the table. “We like difficult puzzles,” said LaPrade.
