Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC’s) Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families is keeping busy creating opportunities through employment support programming and events. - DMACC is offering a program that prepares students for a career in the healthcare field by participating in a CNA training that provides extra academic support and career preparation. Students complete required classroom/lab and clinical hours while receiving additional supports (reading, writing, math, English Language acquisition) to prepare for the state CNA written and skills exams. With a focus on developing essential soft skills, students will prepare for their future careers in healthcare. The course is intended to support:

- Admin Assistant: $17-$19 per hour - Answer phones, greet customers, schedule appointments, process payments for insurance policies. Opportunity to get licensed in Property and Casualty.
- Counterperson: $20-$22 per hour - Answer phones, greet customers, enter orders, pick orders in warehouse and load trucks. Operate sit forklift to put inventory away.
- Forklift Operator: $17 per hour (6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) - Operate stand and sit down forklift, reach truck and cherry picker, pull orders for clients, palletize products and stock inventory. Forklift Certification REQUIRED.
- Cable Technician: $18-$21 per hour - Work with commercial customers to install cables, TV's, security systems, etc., use power tools and ability to read blueprints on each site. Will provide training.
