Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC’s) Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families is keeping busy creating opportunities through employment support programming and events. Here are the latest offerings to help connect and improve individuals’ employability and assist in connecting people with positions at Greater Des Moines (DSM) businesses and organizations.

There are numerous openings with DSM organizations, as well as other opportunities to be aware of through the Evelyn K. Davis Center. - A Career Fair will be held at the DMACC Urban Campus in Building 7 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Upcoming Events at DMACC
- Monday, April 28, 2025: ELL (English Language Learners) program will accept registrations for the summer session in Building 7 beginning at 8 a.m.
- May 2025: DMACC Perry VanKirk Center will be offering the CDL Jumpstart program in Perry in the evening. Please see the attached flyer for more information. CDL Jumpstart is a preparation program for English Language Learners interested in obtaining their Commercial Driver License (CDL). The course is intended for individuals with high intermediate to advanced ELL skills and is provided at NO COST to students who participate. Interested students can complete this online registration form, use the QR code on the this flyer or call (515) 697-7854.

- Wednesday, April 30, 2025: MercyOne will hold a Walk-in Wednesday Hiring Event at various MercyOne locations across Iowa on the last Wednesday of each month. The next event is from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. On-the-spot interviews will be held at MercyOne West Des Moines at 1755 59th Pl. in West Des Moines. Review the job posting prior to attending the event, and come prepared to interview and dress accordingly.
