Chair's Column: Region Responds in Time of Need

July 27, 2018

Homes and businesses throughout Greater Des Moines (DSM) were affected by flooding last month and again by tornadoes last week. It was unfortunate to see DSM negatively impacted, but the silver lining was the response of so many in the region helping their fellow Iowans.

Working together

All of the neighbors, friends, family who reached out to help any way possible. And, the companies and organizations that stepped up to give assistance to others after the Greater Des Moines Partnership reached out to Investors to check in and assess how the organization could help.

The Partnership and its Affiliate Chambers of Commerce who offered to connect impacted Members with flood recovery resources. And The Partnership’s Chamber and economic development partners in Bondurant, Pella and Marshalltown who are cleaning up to ensure businesses by the tornadoes were open again and operational quickly.

These are a few of the examples.

In times of need, our region works together.

The Greater Des Moines Partnership is the fourth largest regional Chamber of Commerce in the nation. Learn more about Partnership Affiliate Chambers, browse the Membership directory and read additional Affiliate Chamber spotlights.
