2012 DMDC Trip Recap

Approximately 190 Greater Des Moines (DSM) business, civic, and community leaders traveled to our nation’s capital and presented a public policy agenda to promote regional policy priorities and economic development projects during the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s 33rd annual advocacy trip to Washington, D.C., May 9-11, 2012.

Throughout the three-day trip, participants had an opportunity to advocate for key issues facing the region. Participants met with members of Iowa’s Congressional delegation, the Administration, and their staffs. The Partnership hosted two Congressional Leadership Luncheons featuring Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), and a brunch featuring Secretary Tom Vilsack from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. There was also a dinner hosted by the Greater Des Moines Partnership Regional Affiliates at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Workshops focused on education, international trade, biosciences, healthcare and wellness, immigration, energy and arts and culture.
