Bake Sale on St. Patrick’s Day
Location: Peace Tree Des Moines Branch
Snag some yummy St. Patrick’s-themed baked items from local bakers, including Alt Dessert Bar, Domestic Bones, Pie Bird Pies, Pints by Beth and Sift + Sprinkle! (And don’t forget the pre-party including Irish music on Wednesday, March 15 at Peace Tree, as well!)
Celebrate St. Patty’s at Exile
Location: Exile Brewing Co.
The parade passes right by the brewery, so what better way to watch the festivities than with a green beer in hand! Find Irish food specials, free parking and family-friendly activities including corn hole, coloring, temporary tattoos, St. Patty’s necklaces and more.
Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Parade
Location: Western Gateway
The beloved celebration of St. Patty’s Day in Downtown DSM is back! Starting at Noon, this free parade will wind its way around Downtown DSM, including 15th Street heading north, then Grand Avenue going east from 15th to 8th Street including nearby the Sculpture Park and Central Library. Be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on — and wear your best green getup!
Hoops & Hops
Location: Cowles Commons
Come one, come all to Downtown DSM to enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day festivities and take in the action of bracket-busting basketball. This free event will continue, rain or shine, including big screen TVs to watch basketball matchups inside a heated tent, local food trucks, courts for pickup basketball, music from local musicians and drinks onsite from the Iowa Craft Beer Tent and the Iowa Spirits Bar.
St. Paddy’s Day Race
Location: Iowa State Capitol
Choose from several race options including marathon, half marathon, 5K run/walk, kids’ 5K fun run and kids 100-meter dash, and virtual run options, too!
Try the Morrigan's Irish Coffee Milkshake
Location: Zombie Burger + Drink Lab
This yummy St. Patrick’s Day milkshake takes Irish coffee to the next level! Made with vanilla, coffee syrup and dark chocolate pieces, topped with whipped cream + Guinness caramel sauce. This shake is kid-friendly or can spiked with Bailey’s and Jameson for adults ages 21+ with valid ID. (Get it while you can! Offered March 17 through 24 as supplies last.)

Get ready to dance! DFW-based artist, Lee Leprechaun, will be spinning tracks for the “wildest St. Patrick’s Day party of the year.”
Lucky’s 6th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Crawl
Location: Various Venues in the Historic Court District and Historic East Village
Taking place Friday and Saturday, your ticket includes waived cover at all venues, food and drink specials, professional photographers and more! Several venues are included: Hessen Haus, Pints Bar & Rooftop, The Stuffed Olive, VooDoo Lounge, Tipsy Crow and Nightingale.
Tom’s Top 8 & Taylor Gonzalez
Location: 300 Craft & Rooftop
Top’s Top 8 will be playing favorite live music including emo and pop-punk cover songs from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by Taylor Gonzalez from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. To celebrate the green holiday, 300 Craft & Rooftop is offering no cover and additional drink specials throughout the day! Doors open at Noon.
