Partnership Agendas

Developed by the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Government Policy Council (GPC), the annual federal and state agendas consist of the featured priorities of The Partnership’s 400+ Investors as well as its Affiliate Chamber of Commerce organizations and more than 7,200 Members across 12 counties in Greater Des Moines (DSM). Both agendas focus on driving economic growth through year-long advocacy events, including a State Legislative Reception, Legislative Recap Update, DMDC, Iowa Legislative Slow-Pitch Softball Game, Partnership 101, GPC Meetings and a State Legislative Breakfast.

Through collaboration with federal delegation and state officials, The Partnership’s public policy team, equipped with the varied viewpoints of its stakeholders, works to advance the priorities below to grow Greater Des Moines communities and advance the state of Iowa.

Federal Policy Agenda

The Federal Policy Agenda featured priorities for 2025 include the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, housing, child care, immigration and designating U.S. 65 as an Interstate.

Priorities listed in the Federal Policy Agenda are promoted with one voice at the annual DMDC Trip to Washington, D.C., where attendees meet with Iowa’s Congressional Delegation to discuss the timeliest policies, including attracting and retaining talent while facing workforce challenges like housing and child care options.

State Policy Agenda

The State Policy Agenda featured priorities for 2025 include economic growth, workforce readiness, housing and quality of life.

Public-private partnerships are at the forefront of The Partnership’s state policy efforts. Through collaborative projects, the region’s ability to affect business growth and transform the region on a local level can be more easily realized.
