Batters Up! Partnership Announces Fifth Annual Iowa Legislative Slow-Pitch Softball Game

Friendly bipartisan competition supports civility and benefits two Iowa nonprofit organizations.

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Aug. 11, 2026) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership has announced the fifth annual Iowa Legislative Slow-Pitch Softball Game will take place following the 1 p.m. Iowa Cubs game on Sunday, Aug. 30 at Principal Park.

Iowa Democratic legislators and Iowa Republican legislators will once again take the field in a friendly competition that celebrates bipartisan relationships while benefitting two Iowa nonprofit organizations.

Hosted by The Partnership, in partnership with Dentons Davis Brown, the event provides an opportunity for legislators to connect outside the Capitol while raising funds for Blue Star Mothers of Iowa and the Aiming for a Cure Foundation, selected by the Republican and Democratic caucuses as this year’s beneficiaries.

"The Iowa Legislative Slow-Pitch Softball Game reflects The Partnership's commitment to bringing people together,” said Laura Book, Director of Government Relations and Public Policy at The Partnership. "Strong public policy begins with strong relationships and opportunities like this help build trust and respect that allow important conversations to continue. The Partnership is proud to host an event that supports civility and bipartisan leadership."

A $15 ticket grants attendees admission to both the Iowa Cubs game and the Iowa Legislative Slow-Pitch Softball Game. Community members are encouraged to attend the Iowa Cubs game and then stay to cheer on their favorite team of legislators while supporting the two Iowa nonprofit organizations.
