DAV Patriot Employer Special Recognition
We are honored to be one of 35 companies nationwide to receive the DAV Patriot Employer Award (and just one of eight with a Special Recognition distinction), which highlights our long-standing commitment to veterans through meaningful initiatives:
- Hiring and Supporting Veterans: More than 1,500 veterans are employed at Hy-Vee, where their skills and leadership help strengthen our teams.
- Hy-Vee Homefront Program: This initiative provides year-round support to veterans, active-duty military and their families by partnering with veteran-focused organizations, raising funds to support partner organizations and engaging our customers in supporting military families.
- Register Round-Up: Each November, we partner with customers to raise funds that support organizations including Hope For The Warriors, Operation First Response, American Red Cross and the Puppy Jake Foundation.
- Annual Veterans Day Breakfast: Each year on November 11, every Hy-Vee store welcomes veterans and service members for a free buffet breakfast that fosters connection and community.
- Honor Flights: We sponsor trips for veterans to the memorials in Washington, D.C. For many, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience of recognition and reflection.
Additionally, Hy-Vee celebrates veterans throughout the year with local events and partnerships. This ongoing holistic approach is what earned us DAV’s Special Recognition designation.
