Des Moines Downtown Winter Farmers' Market Announces New Location
DOWNTOWN DES MOINES, IOWA (Sept. 6, 2019) – The Des Moines Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines is moving to a new location. The Winter Market will be held at Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Events Center, 730 Third St. in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). The Winter Market will take place on Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23 and then again on Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day.
The new venue gives The Winter Market room to grow. With the extra space, The Winter Market will be able to add 20 more vendors to its lineup, giving patrons around 150 vendors to explore.
“The Winter Market has become a popular and must-attend event in Downtown DSM leading up to the holidays, and the number of quality vendors that want to be a part of the event has continued to grow,” said Downtown Farmers’ Market Director Kelly Foss. “We are thankful to the hospitality shown by Capital Square in hosting us for many years, and we look forward to working with the Iowa Events Center to grow The Winter Market bigger than ever.”
The outdoor Downtown Farmers’ Market in the Historic Court District continues each Saturday through Oct. 26. Hours are 7 a.m. – Noon, with a later start time during October when hours are 8 a.m. – Noon. The Market spans nine city blocks in Downtown DSM in the Historic Court District: On Court Avenue from Water Street to Fifth Avenue and extending north and south on Second Avenue, Third Street and Fourth Street. The Market supports nearly 300 local small business owners, including farmers, producers, bakers and artists that represent 50 counties across the state of Iowa.
