World Food & Music Celebration
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Food & Music Festival has transitioned to a virtual, socially distanced World Food & Music Celebration which continues through Sunday, September 20. This weekend, catch a drive-in concert and sample food vendors. Take a walk around the world with the flags on display in the Historic East Village at East Locust and East 7th Streets.
2020 Candidate Forum Series
The Greater Des Moines Partnership, in conjunction with Young Professionals Connection and the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, continues to host Iowa candidates in free virtual, town hall-style Zoom events. Find listings for the 2020 Virtual Candidate Forum events here. The next event will host State Representative Ashley Hinson from 10-11 a.m. Monday, September 21.
Drive-Through Bite-Size Market
Enjoy the Downtown Farmers’ Market Drive-Through Bite-Size Market this Saturday from 8-11 a.m. at the Iowa State Capitol Complex Parking Lot, East Grand Avenue and East 13th Street, in Downtown DSM. Order produce, flowers, baked goods and more through the Online Marketplace and pick up the following Saturday. Or, purchase items onsite while remaining in your vehicle. Find more information here.
Metro-Wide Mentoring Morning for Women
Attendees of the Metro-Wide Mentoring for Women event will bring together inspiring networking, coaching and more from regional business leaders. The event will be held in person, with limited registration, at Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center in Johnston. Participants can also attend virtually via Zoom.
The Partnership’s Iowa Author Series is an online presentation of an Iowa author sharing their personal story, with time for a Q&A. This virtual series is free, although registration is required. Attend the next event at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23 with Author Jackie Haley.
