21-Day Equity Challenge
How are inequity and racism affecting our lives in our community? Join 21,000 other Iowans currently participating in the 21-Day Equity Challenge, a free event where emails are sent daily with recommended podcasts and other resources and runs through Monday, November 2. Sign up at unitedwaydm.org.
Mask Up DSM
The Greater Des Moines Partnership has partnered with Polk County Board of Supervisors, Polk County Health Department, Polk County Medical Society and DSM hospital networks to encourage businesses and community members to Mask Up DSM. Learn more about this initiative and find resources from local medical hospitals here.
Additional DSM Tutor Connection Resources
The Greater Des Moines Partnership’s DSM Tutor Connection now offers expanded services, including additional filtering options to assist in finding the right tutor. Guidance and tips for tutors and parents are also available.
Drive-Through Bite-Size Market
The Downtown Farmers’ Market Drive-Through Bite-Size Market continues this Saturday from 8-11 a.m. at the Iowa State Capitol Complex Parking Lot, East Grand Avenue and East 13th Street, in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). Pre-order produce, flowers, baked goods and more through the Online Marketplace and pick up the following Saturday. Or, purchase items onsite while remaining in your vehicle.
2020 Virtual Candidate Forum: J.D. Scholten
Candidate J.D. Scholten is The Partnership’s next Virtual Candidate Forum speaker. Attend the hour-long Zoom meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 13. For more information, contact Ryan Moon at rmoon@DSMpartnership.com.
As part of the DSM Forward series, Director of Horticulture and Education Kelly Norris will share pivots taking place at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Gardens. Attend the Zoom event at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 13.
Central Iowa Water Trails
The DSM Forward webinar series continues from 12:15 – 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 15 when Hannah Inman, CEO of the Great Outdoors Foundation, will speak during the Zoom webinar on the Central Iowa Water Trails project.
Iowa Author Series: Sean Adams
Hear an online presentation featuring Sean Adams, author of The Heap, from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14. Adams will discuss the book and answer questions during an audience Q&A.
Raising Capital Seminar Series
The Raising Capital Seminar is a virtual, five-part series this year. The final three events in the Raising Capital Seminar Series will take place later this month:
- The Financial Model (Wednesday, October 14 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.)
- The Capitalization Table (Wednesday, October 21 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
- The Term Sheet (Wednesday, October 28 from 8:30 a.m. – Noon)
Doing International Business Virtually
The world has changed in 2020. Director of OCO Global Paul Grossman will discuss virtual platforms and benefits to international business, best practices and more at the Doing International Business Virtually webinar from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, October 14. This event is through Iowa Economic Development Authority.
Small Business Success Summit
The first day of the virtual Small Business Success Summit will take place Thursday, November 5 from 12:30 – 5 p.m., followed by a second day of evens on Friday, November 6 from 7:30 a.m. – 12:35 p.m.
The eighth annual Inclusion Summit will take place on Zoom from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 10. The Inclusion Summit will wrap up the 21-Day Equity Challenge mentioned above. Contact Sanjita Pradhan at spradhan@DSMpartnership.com for more information.
DMACC DBR Business Acumen Series
The DMACC DBR Business Acumen series will take place on Zoom with the first event happening at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 13. The kickoff event is a one-hour introductory session, which will be followed by six more sessions, with topics ranging from the five factors of business to capital investments analysis.
