Drive-Through Bite-Size Market
Just a few weekends are left to visit the Downtown Farmers’ Market Drive-Through Bite-Size Market on Saturdays from 8-11 a.m. at the Iowa State Capitol Complex Parking Lot, East Grand Avenue and East 13th Street, in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). Pre-order produce, flowers, baked goods and more through the Online Marketplace and pick up the following Saturday. Or, purchase items onsite while remaining in your vehicle. Stay tuned for info regarding a new Winter Market!
DSM Book Club
Get ready to meet the authors of the March DSM Book Festival by attending the DSM Book Club’s Zoom book discussion. Discuss The Secrets We Kept by Lara Prescott at this month’s meeting on Wednesday, October 28 at 7 p.m.
Iowa Business Hall of Fame Nominations
The Iowa Business Hall of Fame nominations are now open and will be accepted until 5 p.m. Sunday, November 1. You can find past inductees and the nomination form here.
DSM Forward Webinar Series
Discuss food security resources in the DSM community at the next DSM Forward webinar at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27. Michelle Book, president and CEO of Food Bank of Iowa, will speak at the event.
Raising Capital Webinar
The Raising Capital Seminar is a virtual, five-part series this year. The final event in the series will take place Wednesday, October 28 from 8:30 a.m.–Noon where attendees will discuss the term sheet.
Top Five for Small Business
The next Top Five for Small Business event will take place virtually from 9–10 a.m. Wednesday, October 28. Mackenzie Ryan Walters will guide attendees through crafting your elevator pitch and sharing it effectively.
Untapped Talent Series
On Monday, November 2, the Untapped Talent series will focus on Veterans: Programs Providing Employer Incentives. Hear from panelists on tax credits, job training reimbursements and awards from the federal government. This event will take place from 2:30–4 p.m. on Zoom.
Small Business Success Summit
The first day of the virtual Small Business Success Summit will take place Thursday, November 5 from 12:30 – 5 p.m., followed by a second day of evens on Friday, November 6 from 7:30 a.m. – 12:35 p.m.
8th Annual Inclusion Summit + 21-Day Equity Challenge
The eighth annual Inclusion Summit will take place on Zoom from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 10. The Summit will wrap up the 21-Day Equity Challenge, a free event where emails are sent daily with recommended podcasts and other resources that runs through Monday, November 2. Topics include: Understanding privilege, housing and redlining, justice system inequities and more. Sign up at unitedwaydm.org.
