Drive-Through Winter Farmers’ and Makers’ Market
Kick off your holiday shopping at the Principal Park parking lot tomorrow from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with the Drive-Through Winter Farmers’ and Makers’ Market. Find the perfect gift for loved ones from 40 local Greater Des Moines (DSM) vendors. Pre-order end-of-the-season fresh produce and holiday gifts through the Drive-Through Winter Online Marketplace. The Online Marketplace will also offer vendors that will not be at the event tomorrow, but you can coordinate pickup with those vendors via the site.
19th Annual Holiday Promenade
The 19th Annual Holiday Promenade in the Historic East Village will feature activities over six Sundays and six Wednesdays in November and December, creating the 12 Days of Promenade. A Promenade Information Station is open each week at 503 E. Locust St. with information about the week's activity or a map of the neighborhood. Event activities will take place outdoors.
Brenton Skating Plaza Opens Today
Brenton Skating Plaza opens today. Reservations and masks will be required and capacity will be limited to 50%. The process to check in and rent skates will be moved outdoors. The Plaza will offer sessions through Sunday, January 3, 2021.
DSM Book Festival Iowa Author Series
The Iowa Author Series continues Thursday, December 3 at 4 p.m. with a look at “Iowa State Parks: A Century of Stewardship” by author Rebecca Conrad and photo editors Angela Corio and Jim Scheffler. Advanced registration is required for the free event.
2021 State Policy Agenda Unveiling
Legislative leaders will preview the 2021 legislative session of the 89th General Assembly and The Partnership’s leadership will share the 2021 State Legislative Priorities at the 2021 State Policy Agenda Unveiling. Attendees must register prior to the event, which takes place on Zoom, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, December 10.
COVID-19 Rapid Response Hub
The Partnership is here to provide support to the DSM region. Through the COVID-19 Hub, tools and resources are available to help businesses do business and employers connect to employees. Check out the DSM Forward FAQ for important area resources or submit your own questions regarding current impact, future trends and more. Find information on Mask Up DSM, including images that help spread the message and encourage local businesses and community members to protect the health of those throughout the region.
Workplace Wellness While Working from Home
Moving back to the home office this winter? Find tips and toolkits on mental health, parenting and staying active on The Partnership’s Workplace Wellness page. Download posters, too, as you prepare for working from home this holiday season, and begin practicing workplace wellness from your own home.
Shopping Local Resources
The Director’s Council offers a Black-Owned Business Directory that features a variety of businesses to support as you begin to shop local this holiday season. The Shop Where I Live site also showcases independent businesses and serves as a resource to shop local in DSM.

As the need for plasma increases amid the COVID-19 pandemic, potential donors are needed. Check out the LifeServe Blood Center website to schedule an appointment or call (800) 287-4903.
