Mentoring for Women

Attend Mentoring for Women from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4. The Ankeny Area Chamber event will offer professional development and mentoring and will be available in-person or virtually. If you attend at the venue, social distancing protocols will be observed. Speakers include:

·      Corey Morrison of On With Life

·      Allison Piazza of Easterseals Iowa

·      Patti Hood of Charter Bank

·      McKenna Haus of Team Haase Racing LLC (keynote)


Downtown Farmers’ Market Drive-Through Option

The Drive-Through Bite-Size Market will take place from 8-11 a.m. each Saturday, August 8 through October 31, 2020. Pre-order Downtown Farmers’ Market items and pick up food and products the following Saturday. Find more information here.

A Taste of the Iowa State Fair

Taste of the Fair continues this weekend by celebrating food vendors in the midway/Thrill Ville area of the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Events will take place on the following dates and hours:

·      4 - 9 p.m. Friday, July 31

·      11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday, August 1

·      11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday, August 2



Social distancing and crowd number guidelines will be followed. 

Inclusion Award

The Partnership encourages nominations/applications prior to Friday, August 21 for the Inclusion Award. To qualify, organizations must be a regional Member of Investor of The Partnership. Apply here.

DSM Forward

The DSM Forward industry and business function playbooks are currently available on The Partnership’s website. Industry playbooks include: Agriculture, Child Care, Construction & Development, Education, Events, Arts & Culture, Financial Services, Government, Gyms, Health Care, Hotels, Manufacturing, Nonprofits, Personal Services, Restaurant & Food Service, Retail and Utilities. Business function playbooks include: Finance, HR, IT, Legal, Operations and Sales & Marketing.

Find DSM Forward webinars and other upcoming events at DSMpartnership.com/events, including “DSM Forward: The Latest at Blank Park Zoo” which will focus on the impact of COVID-19 on Blank Park Zoo and how the zoo animals are being protected. 

Other upcoming events include live outdoor music and movies under the stars found at desmoinesparent.com, as well as the next FemCity Des Moines virtual event: August First Friday Coffee Connection. The FemCity event takes place Friday, August 7 at 8:30 a.m. via Zoom.
