National Farmers’ Market Week is Aug. 3 – 9, 2025 and highlights the important role and impact that farmers’ markets have on our communities.

Greater Des Moines (DSM) has 30+ local farmers’ markets around the region. These markets are the perfect place to purchase local produce for your next meal, find a unique gift for your friends and family and support your local community.

Celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week by checking out your local farmers’ market and support local business owners at these events, including the Des Moines Downtown Farmers’ Market on Saturdays May 3 – Oct. 25, 2025, or one near you.

Adair County / Guthrie County

Clarke County

  • From June through October, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to Noon and Tuesdays from 3 – 6 p.m., attend the Clarke County Farmers’ Market in Osceola. Vendors line up on the Courthouse lawn twice a week so you can shop for produce, baked goods and more.

Dallas County

  • Attend Adel Farmers’ Market at the Dallas County Fairgrounds on Tuesdays from 4 – 7 p.m.
  • The Dallas Center Farmers’ Market takes place every Tuesday from June through August at Mound Park. Visit produce and arts and crafts vendors from 4 – 7 p.m.
  • The Perry Farmers’ Market is held on Thursdays from June 6 – Sept. 26, 2025 from 4 – 7 p.m. and hosts specials events on the third Thursday of each month. You can attend in Downtown Perry at Josh Davis Plaza & 2nd Street.
  • Waukee’s Farmers’ Market is held at the Historic Triangle downtown each Wednesday June through September from 4 - 7 p.m.

Mahaska County / Marion County

Marshall County

  • The Cartwright Market in Marshalltown is open twice weekly at the Cartwright Pavilion — on Wednesdays from 4 – 7 p.m. and on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to Noon.

Polk County

  • Altoona’s new farmers’ market, The Brightside Market, is held at Brightside Aleworks on Thursday nights May 22 – Aug. 28, 2025 from 5 – 8 p.m.
  • The Bondurant Farmers’ Market is held at the City Park on Wednesdays this summer from 6 p.m. until dark.     
  • Des Moines has a variety of farmers’ markets for residents to enjoy, including:
    • The Des Moines Downtown Farmers’ Market is on Saturdays May 4 – Oct. 26, 2025 in Downtown Des Moines (DSM)’s Historic Court District. Market hours are 7 a.m. to Noon through September and 8 a.m. to Noon in October.
    • Beaverdale Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays June 3 – Sept. 9, 2025 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Franklin Junior High west parking lot.
    • Attend the Eastside Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Collectamania parking lot, 3200 Delaware Ave. in Des Moines.
    • Global Greens International Market, organized by Lutheran Services in Iowa, showcases refugee and immigrant vendors at its market on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at 1907 Carpenter Ave. in Des Moines.
  • The Grimes Farmers’ and Community Market is held on Saturday mornings, June through September, from 8 a.m. until Noon at Heritage Park. It features a young entrepreneur program to educate and grow future entrepreneurs in Grimes.
  • Johnston’s Farmers’ Market is held on Tuesdays June – September from 4 – 7 p.m. at Johnston Town Center.
  • Pleasant Hill holds its Community Farmers’ Market on Mondays, June through August, from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Berean Church parking lot. This market has more than 50 vendors, kids activities and more.
  • The Polk City Farmers’ Market is located at Polk City Square on Thursdays from 4:30 – 8 p.m.
  • Uptown Ankeny Farmers’ Market is held on Saturdays May 24 – Sept. 27, 2025 from 8 a.m. to Noon. Pets are allowed in the city park but not allowed in the market pavilion areas.
  • The Valley Junction Farmers’ Market in West Des Moines is held on Thursdays May through September from 4 – 8 p.m. See more than 90 vendors at the 100-300 blocks of 5th Street.

Poweshiek County

  • The Grinnell Farmers’ Market is held at the corner of 4th Avenue and Broad Street from May through October on Thursdays (3 – 6 p.m.) and Saturdays (9:30 a.m. – Noon). 

Warren County

  • At the Wyckoff parking lot, check out the Carlisle Farmers’ Market vendor booths on Saturdays from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. The market takes place from early June to late October.     
  • The Indianola Downtown Farmers’ Market takes place on the Indianola square outside of the Warren County Justice Center on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. – Noon.
  • Norwalk’s Farmers’ Market is every Friday May through October from 4 – 6:30 p.m. at the Norwalk Christian Church.
