Holiday Giving with YPC

Young Professionals Nonprofit Connections

My first experience with the Young Professionals Connection (YPC) was with the Volunteer Committee in January of 2011. I received a text from then-charitable chair Lindsay Alderman asking me to attend because it was her first time running the committee. Since that meeting I’ve had the opportunity to help with multiple volunteer projects, plan and create new YPC charitable events, and learn more about nonprofit organizations in Greater Des Moines (DSM).

Nonprofit Connections

During the month of November and December, YPC is connecting with a nonprofit in a personal way. We have adopted two very deserving families for the holidays through Hawthorn Hill’s Holiday Project. Our goal is simple: Show these families that they are not alone — people care, Des Moines cares, and YPC cares. We are not asking for much and any gift would be accepted. Gift ideas can be found on the events calendar here. If you would like to help, please bring a gift to any YPC event during November or December. Gifts can also be dropped off at the Greater Des Moines Partnership until December 12, when we will host a wrapping party before giving the gifts to the families.

The Young Professionals Connection is your gateway to volunteering in Des Moines. If you have questions about nonprofits or starting your own charitable event please come to the Charitable Committee meetings or talk to a committee member.

The Young Professionals Connection (YPC) promotes an environment that attracts and retains young professionals in Greater Des Moines (DSM). YPC connects young professionals to each other and to the community through social, civic, charitable and professional development endeavors.
