Calling all creative kiddos! The Central Iowa Art Association is hosting a free open studio class for kids through sixth grade. This is a great way to get those imaginations flowing. From 10-11:30 a.m., little artists can explore new techniques and make their own masterpiece with the help of CIAA Art Director Jordan Denato and a crew of local volunteers. Supplies and instruction are provided; just bring a parent or guardian to stay and enjoy the fun.

Head to Perry for an afternoon with Kris Karr, an acoustic guitarist and singer known for his impressive vocal range and 1970s-inspired sound. Led by a local garden lover who toured five major U.S. gardens last year, each session of this series offers stories, insights and colorful inspiration. It starts at 10 a.m. and is just $5 per session. Proceeds support the Newton Arboretum’s Krumm Center Flooring Campaign.
