Nationwide Celebrates First 100 Years in Business
On April 14, 1926, Nationwide's first policy was written. Today, the insurance and financial services company celebrates its 100th anniversary. In a letter shared by Nationwide CEO Kirt Walker, a timeline of the company's successful "firsts" outlines how Nationwide grew into the successful company it is today, with the help of its members and distribution partners.
From becoming the first insurance company to offer mutual funds in 1954 to launching telematics to reward safer driving with discounts in 2007, Nationwide’s mission is to protect people, businesses and futures with extraordinary care. And, the Nationwide Foundation, established in 1959, has contributed more than $745 million to communities since the year 2000, focusing on crisis stabilization, affordable housing and economic empowerment.
