DSM Forward Ask the Child Care Experts Webinar

The Greater Des Moines Partnership DSM Forward webinar series offers insight on moving the Greater Des Moines (DSM) region forward in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ask the Child Care Experts webinar panelists included Donna Bishop of Catholic Schools, Diocese of Des Moines, Heidi LaBounty of Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children (Iowa AEYC) and Anna Patterson of IA/IL KinderCare.

Critical Health + Safety Measures for Children, Families

Anna outlines how KinderCare has utilized a medical advisor and recommendations from the CDC in order to offer extra safety training to teachers. Staff is wearing masks. Anyone entering the building must have their temperature taken. KinderCare has also staggered pickup/drop-offs.

Donna says Diocese of Des Moines parents are not allowed inside their building.

Heidi explains how Iowa AEYC is utilizing their partners to stay up-to-date on guidelines, including Child Care Nurse Consultants (CCNC), who communicate with the Iowa Department of Health on their behalf.

Webinar guests discuss whether COVID-19 procedures will become long-term, the impact on children and how to assist them during this stressful time, recommendations for parents and more.
