St. Vincent de Paul is keeping busy creating opportunities through employment support programming and events. Here are the latest offerings to help connect and improve individuals' employability and assist in connecting people with positions at Greater Des Moines (DSM) businesses and organizations.

St. Vincent de Paul News

  • St Vincent de Paul is currently hiring for multiple positions at our Ankeny, Des Moines, and Windsor Heights Thrift Stores locations.  All positions are listed on Indeed:  Indeed link to St. Vincent de Paul Openings.  You may also complete our application (St. Vincent de Paul Application) and email it to humanresources@svdpdsm.org.
  • During these challenging economic times, many nonprofits are feeling strained.  If you plan to enjoy a meal out on New Year's Day, we invite you to visit P.F. Chang's (110 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines) and mention St. Vincent de Paul to contribute to our efforts.  P.F. Chang will be donating 10% of all food and non-alcoholic beverage sales between 4-9 p.m.
  • St. Vincent de Paul offers a variety of services aimed at addressing challenges including access to food, clothing, and job support. See the flyer for more information about the services we offer and locations.
  • Skip the Trip: St. Vincent de Paul is now offering the Iowa DOT operator’s knowledge test. This has historically only been available at Driver’s License Service Centers or at County Driver’s License stations. You can take the written drivers test at either St. Vincent de Paul locations (1426 6th Ave. or 520 Army Post Road).   • The Back 2 Work Course offers tailored support for individuals re-entering the workforce or transitioning to a new career. This six-day program covers job-readiness training, developing healthy relationships at home and in the workplace, financial literacy, and mock interview practice. Each participant is paired with a dedicated mentor who provides continued guidance after the class.     • Jan. 14-21, 2026  (Mandatory Orientation will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026)

Upcoming Hiring Events

  • IowaWORKS Grab A Job Tuesday Hiring Event is CANCELLED FOR Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025.  The next event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025.     
  • Monday, Feb. 16. 2026, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: St. Vincent de Paul will host a career fair at Polk County River Place (2309 Euclid Ave. in Des Moines). Mark your calendars — additional details will be shared soon!
  • Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026 from 1 - 3 p.m.: DMACC will host an Automotive Career Fair at the DMACC Ankeny Campus, Building 13. The event is open to the public and free.
  • Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.: Iowa Wild is holding a career fair at the Casey's Center (233 Center St. in Des Moines). Attendees will receive one free ticket for the Iowa Wild game at 7 p.m. that night! See the flyer for more details.
