The Downtown Farmers' Market

The Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health returns for the 2026 season, building on more than 50 years of connecting local farmers, producers and small businesses with the community.

Held in Downtown Des Moines’ Historic Court District, The Market spans 12 city blocks and brings together 305 vendors from 74 cities across 42 counties. The 2026 season features 75 produce and agriculture vendors, connecting Market-goers directly with local farmers and producers.

Each Saturday, visitors can explore a wide variety of offerings, including fresh produce, meat, cheese, eggs, baked goods, plants, flowers, artisan packaged foods, handmade goods and ready-to-eat meals. Visitors can also features live entertainment, family-friendly activities and opportunities to connect directly with the people who grow and make the products.

The Market continues to expand access to fresh, local food through programs such as SNAP/EBT, Double Up Food Bucks and Produce Rx, with many vendors also accepting FMNP and WIC vouchers. As a member of Choose Iowa, it supports Iowa-grown products and strengthens connections between consumers and local producers.

The 2026 Market season runs Saturdays from May 2 through Oct. 31, with hours from 7 a.m. to noon (8 a.m. to noon in October).

The Downtown Farmers’ Market continues to serve as a signature Downtown DSM experience, supporting local businesses, strengthening regional connections and creating a welcoming space for the community each week.
