YPC 2016 Kickoff Party

Are you new to Greater Des Moines (DSM)? Did you just move back from living somewhere else for a while after college? Would you like to expand your professional circle or maybe just want to meet some high quality people your age?? You’re in luck, these are all good reasons to attend the Young Professionals Connection (YPC) Kickoff Event, Friday 29, 2016.

Why Attend the YPC Kickoff Event?

In 2014, I moved back to Des Moines from living in other places for about 5 years after college. I was very surprised to see that Des Moines had changed quite a bit. I had a new job in the environmental sector and was searching for networking opportunities, ways to get involved in the community and for some quality friends. I stumbled upon YPC. I spontaneously signed up and attended the 2014 Kickoff event. Looking back, it was the best decision I have made. The Kickoff is one of the most attended events for YPC all year. Not only do a lot of new people attend but they also have food and give out prizes. I also learned a lot about the organization, YPC is what you make it.

Many people who are involved in YPC are on multiple committees and attend many of the monthly social events and meetings. Luckily, none of this is required and there is no pressure to do anything you don’t want to. As a member you choose how involved you want to be. I quickly learned about the many facets of YPC and explored what it meant to be in YPC, for me. After a year, I found that I liked talking to people about the different possibilities YPC could offer and become an ambassador.  All of this was possible because I decided, on a whim, to attend the Kickoff Party. Now, every year this is my favorite event. I can’t wait to see the new and old faces and interact in one of the most fun events of the year.
