What inspired you to first get involved with your Chamber?
I became a new business owner and resident of Bondurant all within one year. I was in need of my yearly dental checkup and the dentist happened to be the Chamber President, at that time. He asked me how my journey as a business owner was going and how the town was welcoming me. Through this conversation, I found my way to the Chamber. I joined immediately following my appointment and five years later, I am now the President. It’s safe to say, joining the chamber was a very rewarding and enjoyable decision.
What’s a signature offering of your Chamber?
Free advertising and business presence, for all members, at our annual Celebrate Bondurant Festival, held in June. Celebrate Bondurant is a free one-day event that includes live music, local vendors, children’s activities and more. The 2019 event featured an array of local sponsors from Bondurant and Greater Des Moines (DSM).
What is your Chamber’s biggest accomplishment in the past 12 months?
In the past year, we have given all of our members personal social media spotlights and surpassed our 12-month new member goal in just six months.
Any initiative or project that you are looking forward to in 2019?
A new bike trail tunnel is being constructed under Hubbell Ave. which will open up the Gay Lea Wilson Trail.
What upcoming events should people watch for?
Two popular events include the East Polk Regional Breakfast and the Coffee & Conversations events. The East Polk Regional Breakfast is an annual event that will be held from 8:30 until 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 27 at Courtyard Estates at Hawthorne Crossing. Coffee and Conversation events are held the second Monday of each month, with the next event happening from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday, August 12 at Somewhere in the Middle Coffee Shop.
