Drive-Through Winter Farmers' and Makers' Market Returns Saturday, Dec. 12
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Dec. 2, 2020) – Following a successful event that hosted more than 500 vehicles in November, the Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines will host an encore due to popular demand. The Drive-Through Winter Farmers’ and Makers’ Market will return on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Principal Park parking lot located at 1 Line Drive in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). Patrons can shop an assortment of late-season produce, meat, cheese, wine, artisan foods, pies, pastries, bread, honey, jam, salsa, artisan gift items and more.
A number of local vendors will be set up along the perimeter of the parking lot at Principal Park. Customers can either pre-order items online and attend The Drive-Through Winter Market to pick them up, or may shop in-person from their vehicles. This alternative market layout allows customers to connect and purchase from many of the vendors who would typically be at the indoor Winter Market. Customers who pre-order items can attend The Drive-Through Winter Market early beginning at 8:30 a.m. Patrons can also shop the online marketplace that includes vendors that will not be at the physical market and coordinate pick-up logistics with them directly.
“We originally only planned to host one Drive-Through Winter Market this year, but the first event was so popular that we saw an opportunity to meet a community need,” said Kelly Foss, Director of the Downtown Farmers’ Market. “We hope this opportunity to support local vendors and purchase holiday gifts will add a little extra magic to this holiday season.”
