Downtown Farmers' Market to Feature Prepared Food Vendors Beginning This Weekend

DOWNTOWN DES MOINES, IOWA (May 19, 2021) — Patrons of the Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines can enjoy breakfast or an early lunch at The Market beginning this Saturday, May 22. The Market will welcome back vendors serving ready-to-eat prepared foods as part of a phased-in approach to scaling up. The Market will offer two limited seating and eating areas, one in the courtyard located at 100 Court Ave. and another on Court Avenue near Fifth Street.

As previously announced, The Market will scale up the number of vendors and other activities beginning Saturday, May 29. The Market will increase to 165 on-site vendors, up from 115 to begin the season. All participating vendors will be rotated into The Market throughout the remainder of the 2021 season. Additionally, The Market will host three-to-four entertainment groups to perform in open areas, and phase in limited family and children’s activities beginning May 29.

The Downtown Farmers’ Market will continuously evaluate protocols and programming throughout the season in response to the fluctuating COVID-19 virus infection levels and vaccination rates.
