Downtown Farmers' Market Prepares for Online Ordering Platform
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (May 21, 2020) – The Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health — Des Moines completed a successful three-week Virtual Market Meet-Up on Saturday, May 16, and is now working on an online ordering platform to further connect vendors with customers. The Downtown Farmers’ Marketplace Online is scheduled to launch in late May or early June.
The Online Marketplace will allow vendors to take virtual orders and designate their own pick-up or delivery location. All Downtown Farmers’ Market vendors are invited to participate. The portal will build on the vendor contact information currently available on the Downtown Farmers’ Market website.
“We are excited to build out a best-in-class online resource that will help vendors and customers connect,” said Kelly Foss, Director of the Downtown Farmers’ Market. “As we continue to practice social distancing, this is a doorway to help our vendors offer their products during a time when they are unable to sell at the physical Farmers’ Market location. It helps maintain the mission of the Downtown Farmers’ Market to connect consumers with local farmers, producers, bakers, cheesemakers, artists and more.”
