Great Entertainment, Affordable Prices With Wellmark Blue Cross And Blue Shield Family Series

A diverse mix of classical music, acrobatics, industrial scrap instruments and a fight for justice represents the 2014-2015 Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Family Series, now in its sixth season and presented by Des Moines Performing Arts.

Season tickets, just $27 for a three-show package, go on sale Wednesday, July 9 at 9 a.m. at the Civic Center Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, charge-by-phone at (800) 745-3000 and online at DesMoinesPerformingArts.org.

The three shows in the Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield Family Series season ticket package are the DES MOINES SYMPHONY FAMILY CONCERT, THE PEKING ACROBATS and SCRAP ARTS MUSIC. THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD is an add-on show for the Series and is an additional $5 per ticket when purchased with a season ticket package.

DES MOINES SYMPHONY FAMILY CONCERT
Jan. 17, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Civic Center
Children and their family members will get to experience the wonder of a live symphony and be introduced to classical musical. Guest artist and program will soon be announced.

THE PEKING ACROBATS
Feb. 14, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Civic Center
Based on the ancient Chinese tradition from more than 2,000 years ago, The Peking Acrobats perform astounding acrobatic feats accompanied by live music. This group holds a world record for balancing six people on six chairs, 21-feet high!

SCRAP ARTS MUSIC
March 7, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Civic Center
Scrap Arts Music is a high-energy percussion ensemble – performing on hand-crafted instruments fashioned from industrial scrap and off-beat materials. The group is highly physical, wildly theatrical and thoroughly entertaining!

Package Add-On – THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD
May 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Temple Theater
Somewhere near you there is a band of brothers fighting for justice, seeking to rid the land of evil and return hope to the poorly treated. Join internationally acclaimed Visible Fictions for a silly and unexpected take on Robin Hood. Be prepared to unleash your imagination!

THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD is recommended for ages seven and up.

Discovery Party
Families can extend the theater-going experience by attending the Discovery Party held one hour prior to the start of the show in the Nollen Lobby and Prairie Meadows Lobby of the Des Moines Civic Center. Parents are encouraged to bring the entire family for arts and crafts, activities, demonstrations, and other fun programs. The Discovery Party is free to ticket holders.
