Des Moines Performing Arts Presents Jim Steinman's BAT OUT OF HELL THE MUSICAL
DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines Performing Arts is pleased to present Jim Steinman’s award-winning BAT OUT OF HELL THE MUSICAL at the Des Moines Civic Center from Feb. 26, 2019 through March 3, 2019. Single tickets will go on sale Friday, Aug. 3 at 9 a.m. and can be purchased at DMPA.org, the Civic Center Ticket Office, and by phone at 515-246-2300. Originally written as a musical, “Bat Out Of Hell” went on to become one of the most iconic and successful albums of all time. Forty years later, this critically acclaimed, smash hit “brings the theatre and its audience thrillingly alive” (The Stage) with its jaw-dropping, boundary-pushing spectacle and Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf's legendary hits, including “Dead Ring for Love,” “Two out of Three Ain’t Bad,” “Paradise by the Dashboard Light,” “I’d do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That),” and “Bat Out Of Hell.”
Jim Steinman’s BAT OUT OF HELL THE MUSICAL is a romantic adventure about rebellious youth and passionate love, set against the backdrop of a post-cataclysmic city adrift from the mainland. Strat, the forever-young leader of The Lost, has fallen for Raven, daughter of Falco, the tyrannical, ruler of Obsidian.
Directed by award-winning theatre and opera director Jay Scheib, BAT OUT OF HELL THE MUSICAL has book, music and lyrics by GRAMMY Award-winning record producer, composer, and lyricist Jim Steinman, choreography by Emma Portner, with musical arrangements and supervision by Michael Reed, set design by Jon Bausor, costume design by Meentje Nielsen & Jon Bausor, video design by Finn Ross, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestration by Steve Sidwell, casting by Carrie Gardner and Jillian Cimini, C.S.A., and musical direction by Ryan Cantwell.
