June 29, 2018

DES MOINES, Iowa, June 29, 2018 — Nearly 3,500 employee participants have reached the halfway point in the Des Moines Corporate Games 8-week summer competition.

Sixty-one companies, separated into four divisions based on company size, are participating in 25 sports and events.  Competitive, non-competitive, team, and individual events are offered at various locations around the metro area.

The top companies through June 29 include DuPont Pioneer (Division 1 | 8,705 points), Berkley Technology Services (Division 2 | 8,715 points), The IMT Group (Division 3 | 9,355 points), and McGowen, Hurst, Clark & Smith, P.C. (Division 4 | 6,955 points).

Corporate Games TrackThe first half of the 2018 season ended in spectacular fashion at Drake Stadium with the track and field meet, where employees had the opportunity to showcase their skills on the blue oval.  Just days before on the same surface, top athletes from around the country had competed in the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships.

Throughout the competition, points are awarded based on employee participation, placing in competitive events, and volunteerism.  The top companies in each division are awarded the coveted Corporate Games Cup in August at the Iowa State Fair.

The IMT Group has surged into the lead in Division 3 through a combination of solid participation in the non-competitive events, as well as placing high in the team activities.  “As we close on the first month, being a part of Corporate Games has proved to be a rewarding experience for all of us at The IMT Group” said Megan Wonsmos, Sr. Human Resources Generalist.

The second half of the 2018 Des Moines Corporate Games will begin on July 7 with the cycling tour ride from Ankeny to Bondurant and Ultimate tournament at Cownie Soccer Complex on July 8.  The games conclude on July 31 with the Tug of War competition at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines.
