Young Professionals Connection Jasper Winery Event

YPC Nonprofit EventsDozens of young professionals turned out last week to mix it up during Young Professionals Connection’s (YPC's) July Happy Hour at Jasper Winery in Downtown Des Moines (DSM).

Latching on to Jasper’s Summer Concert Series for a second consecutive month, Thursday’s Happy Hour offered a diverse look at an emerging scene of cosmopolitan young professionals enjoying an evening out with friends, coworkers and hundreds of winery patrons who gathered for the Final Mix Show Band.

Cool sangria and slices of Gusto pizza were among the refreshments served by vendors on the site as an eclectic group of YPC members joined concertgoers and other guests on Jasper’s lawn. Each YPC Happy Hour also includes a charitable component, and this month volunteers with the Young Women’s Resource Center (YWRC) took the stage to describe their mission of inspiring young women to become strong, self confident and successful.

YPC Jasper Winery Event “At each of these events we feature a nonprofit organization that is doing great work in our community,” said Social Chair Thang Chau before acknowledging members of YWRC’s Young Professionals Council and inviting YPC At-Large Board Member and Charitable Committee representative Kristin Schaaf to the microphone.

“We are working with the YWRC on the 28th of this month from 9 a.m. to noon,” Schaaf said. “It’s a great opportunity as they are transitioning into their new building to help them with different projects. Anyone is welcome, male or female, to serve on July 28.”

YPC Opportunities

Open to YPC members and non-members, the outing will include a free lunch and chance to meet some of the dedicated volunteers working to support young professionals and improve the lives of young women in our communities.

The next Happy Hour is scheduled for Aug. 9 at Saint’s Pub & Patio in West Des Moines.
