YPC to the Rescue!
On June 13, the Young Professionals Connection (YPC) hosted the superheroes-themed Golden Circle Games at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Hundreds of contestants, making up 95 teams, converged at the Games to compete in a number of team-based events. The Games provide the Greater Des Moines (DSM) community with a unique, off-site, team-building forum in a safe and festive environment. By joining the occasion of the Games with a solid charitable aspect, business leaders could feel great about their associates leaving the office for a day to build camaraderie, solidify working relationships, and network with other local businesses. This year’s focus on school supplies yielded over 15 boxes of supplies; hundreds of individual items to be donated to two local non-profit organizations.
Ties to the Des Moines Business Community
Represented at the Games was a cross-section of the business community: from manufacturing to nonprofit, recent college-grads to tenured employees, associates and supervisors, blue-collar to white-collar, all walks of life. Teams were dependent upon both their individual abilities and one another to succeed in their physical contests. Creativity, boldness, and flair were a must to contend for the best-costume contest. The Games draw together a diverse blend of volunteerism, community-involvement, competition and fun.
