What You Need to Know for Chili for Charity

Chili for Charity Graphic

Chili for Charity is just as simple as it sounds — come eat chili, learn about local charities. For the third straight year, this chili cook-off is a fun competition designed to help Young Professionals Connection (YPC) members discover ways they can get involved or contribute to local non-profit and charitable organizations.

The event is scheduled for January 28, from 5-8 p.m., at Twisted Vine Brewery (next to Valley West Mall).

The chili chefs bring the food and charity information, Twisted Vine brings the beverages and all you have to bring is an appetite for chili and a drive help out the community.

Why Should You Attend?

Learn About Greater Des Moines (DSM) Charities

The first goal of the Chili for Charity event is to help raise awareness and provide education about charitable organizations in the metro. Each of our chili chefs will represent a charity of their choosing and provide information about that charity as attendees sample their chili.

Find Out How to Get Involved with Local Nonprofits

Not only can you learn about several charities in Des Moines, but also ways you can actively get involved and give back. Many nonprofits need financial support, while others are frequently in need of volunteers who are willing to donate their time and talents. From donating blood to helping stock food shelves, or from helping with community beautification to toy and clothing drives, there is no shortage of variety in ways potential volunteers can get involved.

Vote for the "Best Chili Chef"

A dozen chefs. A dozen different chilis. One winner. YPC members — with varying degrees of cooking expertise—will compete to show who the top chili cook is in the Des Moines young professional community. In the past, chilis have ranged from traditional to turkey and from sweet potato to vegetarian.

Each attendee is welcome to sample as many chilis as they wish, and will cast a vote for their favorite. The winner will receive bragging rights and the title of YPC’s "Best Chili Chef."
