What to Expect at the 2015 Golden Circle Games
The Golden Circle Games are just around the corner, and we’ve got a lot of exciting things in store for you. The Games is celebrating its 31st anniversary on June 12, so we hope you’ll come out and join the Young Professionals Connection (YPC) and the Greater Des Moines Partnership to celebrate!
Games Goals
One of our goals this year was to increase awareness of the charitable aspect of the event. After all, that’s a pretty big piece of why we put on this fantastic event each year. However, instead of just picking a beneficiary for the donated goods, we wanted to give our community a chance to voice their support for a local cause they’re passionate about. So, to spice it up we had a little contest.
Local Causes
Starting in early April, we asked our Golden Circle Games Facebook fans to help us choose our very own set of “Sweet 16” organizations to participate in the bracket. To get an organization involved, all they had to do was nominate them in the comments of our initial contest post. From there, we chose the top 16 to be paired bracket-style and our fans did all the rest. With the help our fans and their amazing outcry of support for each and every one of the organizations that participated in the contest, we crowned Hopeful Africa this year’s winner.
New Game at the Games: Human Foosball
We’re also adding in a game that’s larger than life to this year’s lineup. We’ll be pitting teams against each other in an epic battle of human foosball. Of course, this game’s not just a blast to participate in; it’s also a great way to test out your teamwork skills. You learn to work together pretty quickly when you can’t move around freely to kick the ball. Oh, and it’s also a crowd-pleaser. Watching your friends put on a game of human foosball — What’s not to love about that?
After giving your teambuilding skills a run for their money in the competition, relax and enjoy the musical styling of The Snacks, one of Greater Des Moines' (DSM's) very own cover bands. We hope to see you there! And for those of you that are new to the games – or those of you just wanting a little refresher — be on the lookout for our post about fun ways to prepare yourself for the Golden Circle Games.
