Chili for Charity Returns to DSM USA
Young professionals in Greater Des Moines (DSM) have a multitude of reasons why they volunteer and devote their time to others. Whether it be to make our community a better place, create connections with others, or to meet new friends, young professionals are creating a lasting impact. The Young Professionals Connection (YPC) Volunteer Committee decided to have an event that connects young professionals with DSM nonprofits. The event is called Chili for Charity, and it will be on March 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Madhouse Brewing Company.
The goal of Chili for Charity is to allow members to find a mission they connect with and learn more to get more involved in nonprofits that better the DSM community.
Supporting nonprofits
Chili for Charity will feature the following nonprofits: CFum, Habitat for Humanity, The Young Women’s Resource Center, Girl Scout and Genesis Incorporated. YPC will also have a table set up with additional information about One Des Moines, which is a week devoted to service and matching members with nonprofits occurring later in 2018. Each nonprofit will have information on getting involved as well as tasty chili recipes for attendees to sample. Attendees also can connect with Executive Directors and Outreach Coordinators to get a greater understanding of what they do to serve the community.
The venue
Taking place at Madhouse Brewing Company, the venue will be the perfect space for the Chili for Charity event for attendees to try different chili recipes, visit the nonprofit booths and order Iowa-brewed craft beer. Madhouse Brewing Company is located at 501 Scott Ave. in DSM.
Chili for Charity is the first event for the YPC Volunteer Committee in 2018. The committee’s mission is to improve the community, make a positive impact and create connections.
