Get Involved with the Festival
Want to get involved with the World Food & Music Festival? The Festival offers endless opportunities!
Be a Featured Chef
Interested in showing off your culinary skills to 80,000 Greater Des Moines (DSM) residents and visitors? The World Food & Music Festival is proud to feature local chefs who wish to demonstrate diverse recipes. The Festival looks for local, regional and national chefs to present 30-minute demonstrations in the Meredith Culinary Discovery Pavilion during The Festival. Featured chefs are responsible for describing their recipe and cooking techniques to the visitors, as well as providing food supplies to complete the recipe(s). Basic cooking supplies, electricity, burners and some spices are provided.
In return for your participation, The Festival will promote your appearance (with name and business included) in the printed program and website. Featured chefs can distribute printed materials (business cards, pamphlets, etc.) during the demonstration.
Please contact Emily Lyon for more information on how to participate as a featured chef.
Becoming a World Food & Music Festival vendor allows you to showcase your culinary talents, garner attention for your business/organization or present your craft to a new audience. The Festival depends on diverse vendors to create a unique event each year.
- Food Vendor: For people or businesses selling food or drinks.
- Marketplace Vendor: For people or businesses with tangible, non-food items.
- Nonprofit Vendor: For nonprofits that want to spread the word about their organization.
- On-site Marketing Vendor: For businesses to promote and generate leads for services (no tangible products for sale on-site).
Vendor applications are closed for 2018.
The World Food & Music Festival strives to find talented and unique entertainers to create a one-of-a-kind experience for attendees. If you are a musician or performing artist, please consider applying to be a part of The Festival!
Entertainment applications are closed for 2018.
Interns assist with the planning and implementation of the World Food & Music Festival and are integral members of the team. It is a great opportunity to learn how a festival works from behind the scenes for those who are considering a career in events!
The internship positions for 2018 have been filled, but openings are still available with the volunteer Event Management Team. For more information, please contact Emily Lyon, Program Coordinator of Downtown Events.
