February 26, 2015

Mike Kammerer will retire July 3, 2015, ending a 26-year tenure at the helm of Shive-Hattery’s largest design office located in West Des Moines, Iowa. Kammerer has been with the firm for 39 years.

Thomas Bosch, PE, has been named the next Office Director of Shive-Hattery’s West Des Moines design office. He will transition from his role as Structural Group Leader to Office Director upon Kammerer’s retirement.

“Tom brings a diverse skill set of leadership, management, and technical expertise,” said Kammerer. “These talents will provide the office with the leadership and direction to continue successfully serving our clients and take the office into the future.”

Bosch joined the West Des Moines architecture and engineering consulting firm in 1997 following four years at a structural consulting firm in the Kansas City area. Since coming to Shive-Hattery, Bosch has served as a Structural Engineer, Project Manager, Structural Group Leader, and Industrial Sector Leader.

"During the coming months, I’ll be working alongside Mike to make a seamless transition," Bosch said. “It’s an honor to serve our clients and employees in this capacity.”

Kammerer also serves as the company’s Chairman of the Board. He is an Iowa State University alum graduating in 1973 with a B.S. in civil engineering. During his career, Kammerer became a registered Professional Engineer in Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas and Michigan.

“For over 25 years, Mike has remained committed to West Des Moines and the surrounding community and, as a result, he’s built lasting relationships and friendships, “said President Jim Lee. “The growth of the office, from 30 to over 100 employees, is evident of Mike’s success and his investment in our community, employees and clients.”

Bosch is an active member of the community and will continue to be as he transitions into his new role. He is a member of the West Polk County Rotary Club, Urbandale Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Des Moines Partnership Development Council, and is a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leader Institute Community Leadership Program. Bosch is also a member of American Society of Civil Engineers and previously served as President of the Structural Engineers Association of Iowa.

Bosch received his B.S. in civil engineering from North Dakota State University and his M.S. in structural engineering from Iowa State University. During his design career, Bosch became a registered Professional Engineer in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, Wisconsin, Ohio and New York.
