Name: Phil Kreznor
Hometown: Woodstock, Illinois
Education: BS in Business Administration from Drake University
Job: Financial Analyst at Value Wealth Mangaement
Q: What do you do for a living?
A: VWM is an independent fee-only investment advisory firm. We provide financial planning and asset management among other services to our clients. My main job functions are primarily behind the scenes and include investment accounting and reporting, economic and financial research, client income tax and cash flow estimation, retirement modeling, and working on other client-specific projects. I have held my current position since May 2010.
Q: How are you involved in the community?
A: Compared to many of my outstanding peers in Young Professionals Connection (YPC), I consider my involvement pretty sparse. I enjoy meeting new people and being a welcoming face for Des Moines and YPC through my involvement in the Membership Committee and my assistance with the new member meetings/socials. Besides my involvement with YPC, I am a member of the Downtown Neighborhood Association and an officer of the Des Moines-Central Iowa Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity.
Q: What are your favorite things to do in Greater Des Moines (DSM)?
A: In addition to attending numerous, awesome YPC events throughout the year, I enjoy getting over to Gray’s Lake for some outdoor recreation. I like hanging out with friends at the many great bars and restaurants around the metro and am always interested in trying a new place that I’ve either read about in Juice or Cityview or hear about by word-of-mouth. I enjoy the Downtown Farmers' Market and Oktoberfest. While traveling around Des Moines, I like listening to Iowa Public Radio.
Q: What don't people know about you?
A: I really have a passion for music. Also, I don’t think many people know that at Drake, I created a comic strip that ran in the student newspaper.
Q: Anything else?
A: I helped out with the YPC annual membership survey last year and enjoyed reading the comments from members about how we can continuously improve YPC. Several of the 2012 initiatives came out of member feedback.
