What Inspired You to First Get Involved with Your Chamber?
I wanted to get more involved, meet new people and give back to the community I worked in. I instantly fell in love with the Clive Chamber!
What is a Signature Offering of Your Chamber?
The Clive Chamber of Commerce is continuously working to create opportunities for our business community to interact and collaborate with one another. As a smaller landlocked community surrounded by large growing communities we say, “we are small but mighty.” We strive to make sure our members never feel like a number as they build meaningful business relationships and personal friendships. With involvement in the community and connections to Clive leaders, the word about their business will spread further faster.
What is Your Chamber’s Biggest Accomplishment in the Past 12 Months?
In February, we were pleased to add Edye Beckerman to our team as the part-time Membership Coordinator, a newly created position. Edye’s role includes communicating with current and potential members, as well as facilitating sponsorship and marketing opportunities and membership development.
What Initiative/Project Are You Looking Forward to in the Upcoming Year?
We’re most looking forward to retaining and attracting Businesses to Clive. One of our biggest initiatives — decided on during strategic planning — is to gauge why businesses open or move to Clive. This info will help us promote the value of economic development in our community and evaluate our communication methods with our current businesses to make sure their needs are being addressed.
What Partnership Tools/Resources Have Been Most Beneficial to Your Chamber Members?
The Greater Des Moines Partnership’s educational and advocacy initiatives are extremely beneficial to our members because a Chamber of our size does not have the resources to back these types of efforts. For example, the Small Business Success Summit gave our members the opportunity to learn from nationally recognized leaders to help their businesses thrive.
