Registration Now Open for 2026 DSM Intern Connection Series
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (March 26, 2026) – Registration is open for the 2026 DSM Intern Connection, a free summer professional development series designed to help interns and college students build professional networks while discovering career opportunities across the Greater Des Moines region.
Led by the Greater Des Moines Partnership, the program supports regional talent by connecting students with employers, strengthening professional skills and showcasing what makes the region a great place to live and work.
"DSM Intern Connection helps students build professional networks while discovering the opportunities available in Greater Des Moines," said Krista Van Hooser-Perin, Director of Workforce at The Partnership. "Many interns return to the region after graduation because of the relationships they build through programs like this, and these connections can become the foundation for launching their careers."
The program welcomed a record 517 interns in 2025, highlighting strong demand from both employers and students. Nearly 90% of participants said they would accept a job in Greater Des Moines if offered.
Each session is hosted at companies in Greater Des Moines, giving interns direct exposure to workplace environments and regional employers.
Sessions in the 2026 series include:
- Tuesday, June 2: Elevate Your Network: Mastering Connection & Confidence for Career Success
- Tuesday, June 16: Foundations for a Successful Career & Life
- Tuesday, June 30: Leadership in Focus
- Tuesday, July 14: You Are the CEO of Your Life
- Tuesday, July 28: Executive Luncheon (invite only)
In addition to the core sessions, participants are invited to attend the I-Cubs and Chamber Night Tailgate on June 23, a bonus networking opportunity designed to help interns build connections in a more informal setting.
Each event offers opportunities for students to network with fellow interns and young professionals while learning practical skills to support a successful transition from college to career. Participants who complete three of the four core events will receive a Community Leadership Certificate and an invitation to a special Executive Luncheon.
The series is open to interns and college students across the Greater Des Moines region, regardless of where they are interning or attending school. All DSM Intern Connection events are free for students to attend.
The 2026 DSM Intern Connection series is made possible through the support of regional employers including American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company, Bankers Trust, EMC Insurance Companies, Hy-Vee, Principal Financial Group® and Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
